On 22nd April, in the heart-wrenching incident that took place in Pahalgam attack, Kashmir, Syed Adil Hussain Shah, a resident of Kashmir, died. Syed Adil Hussain Shah was a resident of Hapat Nar village near Pahalgam and he worked as a pony ride operator to feed his family. On 22nd April, when Adil Shah saw terrorists attacking tourists, he ran towards the terrorists to save the lives of the tourists and even tried to snatch the gun from them, but the terrorists did not listen to Adil Shah and shot him dead.
Who was the Syed Adil Hussain Shah –
Syed Adil Hussain Shah was a pony handler, he was resident of Hapat Nar near the Pahalgam in Jammu Kashmir, he was the eldest son of his family and family dependent on him, Syed Adil Shah Hussain earning approximately rupees 300 a day by ferrying tourist to scenic spots like Baisaran vally, he was saving money for his sister’s wedding and was deeply committed to his family.

After this tragic incident the whole family was in deep shock, At his funeral chief minister Omar Abdullah joined thousands of mourners to honour what many believe was a final act of courage. Adil’s aunt Khalida expressed hurt over the lack of recognition her nephew had received in national coverage, she said that ” Nobody named our boy but everyone should know that we are mourning every life lost in carnage “, Syed Adil’s cousin Md Hussain said ” who could have imagined he would not return ? The wives of so many of our tourist brother , some of them on honeymoon, are going back with their bodies. This is a blot on Kashmiriyat that we can’t erase “.
Injuries and Fatalties in Pahalgam Terrorist Attack –
According to media reports, it is being told that 26 people have died in this attack and about 17 people have been injured and one of the dead is of Nepali origin. After the people killed in the 2008 Mumbai attack, this was the biggest attack on civilians till date.
